Friends of Kiowa District Hospital and Manor Foundation, Inc.

Friends of Kiowa District Hospital and Manor Foundation, Inc., established in 2011 as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, aims to unite healthcare and community for the betterment of all through charitable donations and gifts. We support Kiowa District Healthcare, the Rural Health Clinic, and The Manor in delivering comprehensive health services across South Barber County in Kansas and Northern Alfalfa and Woods Counties in Oklahoma. In response to growing healthcare needs, we launched a $3 million capital campaign in 2012. Our services range from preventive care and emergency services to surgical, inpatient care, physical therapy, and intermediate long-term care at the Manor.

What We Do
Our fundraising strategy emphasizes stewardship and community involvement to address local issues and foster lasting change. We engage the community by sharing achievements through conversations, newsletters, our annual Jeans & Gems event, our website, and various media outlets.

Why Choose Us
Our ability to attract meaningful donor support stems from the exceptional care provided by the staff at our Critical Access Hospital and Manor. Donors connected to our services are keenly interested in ensuring these vital resources continue for future generations.

Current Projects

The health of our community members is influenced by various factors, including access to emergency, preventive, and chronic disease care, as well as support for daily activities when home care is no longer feasible. Since its establishment in 1951, it has been our mission at Kiowa Hospital District to ensure the availability of these essential services, staffed by highly qualified professionals and housed in modern, well-equipped facilities. This commitment upholds the vision set forth by previous board members and staff for local healthcare.

As knowledge, needs, and technology evolve, the availability of local healthcare remains crucial in maintaining a strong, vital rural community. Healthy residents contribute significantly to economic growth, social stability, educational advancements, and overall quality of life.

The Foundation is actively involved in several transformative projects designed to effect positive change across various sectors. Here are some of the key initiatives currently underway:

  • Childcare Addition: KDH is establishing an onsite childcare center for children aged 6 weeks to 16 years, enhancing employee recruitment and retention by providing convenient and quality care.

  • Nursing Equipment Upgrades: Recent equipment updates include blanket and fluid warmers, IV poles, vital signs machines, a cautery machine, and more, ensuring compliance with CMS regulations and enhancing patient care.

  • Facility Updates and Improvements: Ongoing updates and improvements to the KDH facility help maintain a safe, modern environment for both patients and staff, ensuring the highest standards of care.

Past Projects

  • New KDH Facility (2014): The Foundation raised $1.5 million to build a modern healthcare facility, replacing the outdated hospital and improving care in the community.

  • KDH Transportation: A third van equipped with a lift improves accessibility for wheelchair users and provides versatile transportation options for both residents and staff.

  • Wellness Addition (2021): Expanded space for Physical Therapy and Behavioral Health services increased patient privacy, reduced wait times, and provided a multi-use conference room for staff and community needs. These projects highlight the Foundation's dedication to enhancing healthcare services and facilities for the community.
