KDH Sliding Fee Discount Program
At Kiowa District Healthcare, we are committed to providing healthcare services to all patients, regardless of their ability to pay. We ensure that no one is denied service due to financial constraints. Our Sliding Fee Discount Program offers free or discounted care to those who are uninsured or underinsured, based on individual financial circumstances.

Eligibility for this program is determined by a person's ability to pay, using the Federal Poverty Guidelines to guide and update the sliding fee schedule annually. Importantly, we do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, disability, religion, age, sexual orientation, or gender identity. This program underscores our commitment to accessible, equitable healthcare for everyone in our community.
Understanding Your Hospital Statement and Insurance Claims
Navigating hospital statements and health insurance claims can be complex. At Kiowa District Healthcare, we're here to help you understand our billing processes and available financial assistance options if you cannot pay.

Please ensure you respond promptly to any requests from your insurance company. While we provide all necessary information and paperwork to your insurer, they may require additional information directly from you to address issues related to your coverage or account. If your insurance does not settle the payment within 60 days of billing, or if they do not respond to our efforts to resolve payment issues, the balance will become your responsibility.

Physician Bills:
You may also receive separate bills for services from physicians or specialists, such as pathologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, who were involved in diagnosing and interpreting tests and treatments during your hospital stay. Often, you will not meet these specialists in person. If you have questions about these bills, please use the contact number provided on the statement.
Billing Questions and Payments:
If you have questions about your bill or need clarification on the statement, please contact us at (620) 825-4131 option 5. It’s important to be aware that your insurance may not cover certain tests or procedures ordered by your physician. Refer to your health plan handbook or contact your insurer directly for coverage information.
Responsibility for Payment:
You are ultimately responsible for settling your portion of the bill, which may include deductibles, co-payments, or other amounts due at the time of service or discharge. Kiowa District Healthcare accepts various forms of payment, including cash, checks, debit cards, money orders, and credit cards. Payment plan options are also available for those who qualify.
Financial Difficulties:
If you anticipate difficulties in paying your bill, please reach out to the Kiowa District Healthcare Business Office. Our billing staff can discuss various payment options with you, including extended payment plans, government programs, or charity care/patient assistance.

We are committed to providing you with the support you need to manage your healthcare expenses effectively.
